What our car negotiation service does

You tell us the car. We contact the dealers that have it, by phone and email, ask each one for a written, itemized offer and negotiate from there. You don’t sit in a showroom or field dealer calls.

We negotiate the out-the-door total, not the sticker

A low sale price can hide a high doc fee or dealer-installed add-ons. In Texas the total also carries the 6.25% motor vehicle sales tax plus title and registration fees, so we compare offers on the full out-the-door number and push back on add-ons and junk fees line by line.

Written offers, then your decision

Steer Me Right covers one model. Steer Me Right Pro covers up to three, plays each model’s dealers against each other’s written offers, adds out-of-state dealers and ends with the deal we’d take. Either way, you review the car, the numbers and the paperwork, and you decide whether to buy.

A flat fee, and dealers pay us nothing

You pay $395 or $695 once. The fee doesn’t grow with the price of the car, and we take no commissions or kickbacks from dealers, so the only person we negotiate for is you. We don’t promise a specific discount. We show you the written offers so you can judge the deal yourself. See how the process works step by step.

Austin base, Texas coverage

Steer Me Right operates from Austin and serves Texas buyers. Its other named service areas are Arlington, Dallas, El Paso, Fort Worth, Houston, New Braunfels, San Antonio, and San Marcos. Those are service areas, not branch offices. The Texas resource hub provides statewide context.

For an Austin-area request, provide your ZIP code, the seller’s location, and how far you are willing to travel. Ask us to confirm coverage and any in-person help. There’s no storefront or walk-in office.

Remote work and in-person steps

The listed service includes research, written offer comparison, and seller communication. Before booking, ask which steps can be completed remotely for your purchase and whether any advisor attendance is available. In-person help isn’t part of the listed plans. A test drive, physical inspection, document signing, and vehicle handover each need their own arrangement with the relevant provider or seller.

Pickup, delivery, and the transaction

On Steer Me Right Pro, we help coordinate shipping from an out-of-state dealer when the dealer is open to it. Confirm who provides transport, its cost, the pickup and destination, expected timing, and how the vehicle’s condition will be documented. Do not plan around a delivery date until the seller or carrier confirms it.

Before any deposit or trip, ask the seller to confirm the VIN, availability, written total, deposit terms, required documents, and the person handling handover. If financing or a trade-in is involved, ask what still needs approval or inspection. These are preparation questions, not a promise that Steer Me Right performs every transaction step. You retain the purchase decision.

Austin purchase planning

Local sources checked September 5, 2026. Verify current requirements with the responsible agency for your vehicle and county.

Use the correct county paperwork route

If your transaction belongs with Travis County, start with the Travis County Tax Office’s buyer instructions. For an individual sale, the office recommends having the seller accompany you so a representative can check the title before the application is submitted. Ask the office which documents your specific transfer requires; a seller’s location alone is not enough to choose your paperwork route.

Travis County offers title-transfer walk-ins at selected locations. Check the current title-services page for hours and locations before setting a handover time.

Account for Travis and Williamson emissions rules

The TCEQ emissions program includes Travis and Williamson counties. Its overview specifies annual testing for gasoline vehicles from model-year ages 2 through 24 and excludes electric and diesel vehicles, motorcycles, and mopeds. Check applicability for the vehicle’s registration county and age before scheduling. An emissions result does not answer the mechanical-condition questions.

Plan dealer visits around the I-35 corridor

TxDOT’s I-35 Capital Express Central page identifies Austin construction segments and links to the current closure map. As a practical planning step, check that map before a test drive or pickup, reconfirm the seller’s entrance, and avoid making several appointments depend on one tight travel estimate.

Questions to settle before booking

How much does a car negotiation service cost in Austin?

Ours is a flat $395 for one model or $695 for up to three, paid once through Stripe. The fee is the same whatever the car costs, and dealers pay us nothing. You get a full refund if you cancel before negotiations begin.

Do you only negotiate with Austin dealers?

No. We work the dealers that have your car within your search radius, in Austin or elsewhere in Texas. Steer Me Right Pro adds out-of-state dealers, and we help coordinate shipping when the dealer is open to it.

Can I use a plan if I already found a car?

Share the listing and what you want help comparing. If that’s the one car you want, the Steer Me Right plan covers it. If you’re still weighing it against other models, Steer Me Right Pro covers up to three.

Will an advisor meet me at an Austin dealership?

In-person help isn’t part of the listed plans. Ask for confirmation of availability, location, scope, and any separate fee before making plans.

Does the service include a mechanic’s inspection?

The plans don’t include a mechanic’s inspection. Ask who would select and book an independent inspector, what the inspection covers, and who pays. Research and offer comparison do not substitute for a mechanic’s findings.

What should I send with an inquiry?

Send your ZIP code, budget, vehicle requirements, desired timing, links to candidates, and any written quotes. Mention a trade-in, travel limit, or delivery need. Use the box above to ask about scope. Do not include payment details or identity documents.
